In Leviticus 23:9-21, the children of Israel were instructed to bring in the first sheaf of barley as a wave offering on the day following the first day of Unleavened Bread. They were to then count each subsequent day for seven weeks, or 49-days, leading up to the next festival called, Shavuot, or Weeks.
Today, while we may not be in Israel nor do not have a standing Temple or functioning Priesthood, we can still continue this practice in our own communities and homes. Tonight as the sun goes down and the first day of Unleavened Bread comes to a close, we begin counting.
Use the Countdown Chart below to help you keep track the 49 days, or seven weeks, of the Omer leading up to the next Spring Festival, Shavuot (a.k.a. Pentecost).
Each day you can:

- Consider Israel’s journey from physical freedom to spiritual purpose.
- Reflect on your own spiritual growth and areas that need improvement.
- Incorporate your daily personal and/or family devotions.
- Stay connected with the Greater Body of Messiah who keep the Torah.
